Use
Sikaflex®-290 DC PRO is designed for caulking traditional wooden decks in yacht and shipbuilding. This product is only suitable for use by experienced professionals. Always perform tests in advance on common substrates and under local conditions to determine adhesion and material compatibility.
Substrate Pre-treatment
Surfaces must be clean, dry, and free of grease, oil, and dust. For wood, the use of Sika® Primer-290 DC is mandatory. Additional surface preparation, such as sealing the perimeter during assembly, depends on the type of substrate. All recommendations should be determined through prior testing.
Application
For satisfactory results, Sikaflex®-290 DC PRO should be applied with suitable equipment, such as a pump, dosing units, or a caulking gun with piston control. Sikaflex®-290 DC PRO can be processed between 5°C and 35°C, but keep in mind that changes in reactivity and application properties may occur. The optimal processing temperature (substrate, climate, and Sikaflex®-290 DC PRO) is between 15°C and 25°C.
Removal
Uncured Sikaflex®-290 DC PRO can be removed from tools and equipment with Sika® Remover-208. Once cured, it can only be removed mechanically. Hands and uncovered skin should be cleaned immediately with Cleaning wipes or a suitable industrial hand cleaner and water. Do not use solvents on the skin!
