Method of Application
Surfaces must be clean, dry, and free from grease/oil, dust, and other contaminants. Adhesion to substrates can be improved by applying and/or combining a pretreatment process, such as roughening, cleaning, and activating.
Processing
Shake the can of Sika® Primer-209 D thoroughly until the mixing ball rattles freely inside. Then continue shaking for an additional minute. Apply a thin but covering layer of Sika® Primer-209 D using a brush, felt pad, or foam applicator. The ideal application and substrate temperature is between 15°C and 25°C. Apply carefully in a single pass to ensure a proper sealing layer is formed. Consumption and application method depend on the specific characteristics of the substrate and the production process. Seal the container tightly immediately after each use.

Sika Sikaprimer 209 D
Pigmented, solvent-based primer for paints and plastics
Sika® Primer-209 D is a black primer based on solvents, which reacts with moisture to form a thin layer.
This layer serves as a connection between the substrate and the adhesive. Sika® Primer-209 D is specially formulated for treating adhesive surfaces before applying Sika's 1-component polyurethanes. This primer may provide excellent adhesion on certain plastic substrates without requiring a prior activation step.
Usage
Sika® Primer-209 D is suitable for many plastics and paints, such as epoxy resins, GRP, ABS, PMMA, PC, PS, and acrylic-, alkyd/melamine-, and powder coatings. Due to the diversity of plastics, tests must always be conducted on original substrates and under actual production conditions. Consult the manufacturer for advice before using the primer on plastics sensitive to stress corrosion. This product is intended for use by experienced professionals only. Always perform tests beforehand with the actual substrates and conditions to determine adhesion and compatibility of the adhesive and material.
