Types of PU foam and applications

The choice of which foam to use for the job depends on what the demands are. The PU foam can be used as isolation, adhesive, padding or as fire resistant seal. There are three different types of PU foam; normal PU foam, flexpur and fire-resistant PU foam.

• Normal PU foam is cheaper and can be easily used indoors, since the temperature fluctuation is here minimal.
• Flexpur is better in places with large temperature differences, it is more resilient and can handle the expansion and shrinkage of the materials better.
• Fire-resistant PU foam ensures that no smoke or gas will pass en works retardant in case of a fire. For the last type we have Illbruck Nullifire or the Zwaluw Fireprotect which are both especially suitable for the fire-resistant sealing of architectural joints.

Next to these types there is also PU foam with a low expansion. This works more efficient with a good control on dosage and creating less expansion and thus less foam waste.

• PU foam can also be applied by hand if you do not want to buy a pistol. We have many different hand PU foams in our product range.
• Do you see the perfect PU foam for your job and this a pistol PU foam but do not want to buy a pistol? Then we have the perfect affordable tool for you! The Illbruck spray Nozzle is a 2-in-1 system which can be applied to any can of PU- or adhesive foam. It transforms the can with a pipet to a hand foam.
